It’s not often we get to take a step back and look at the achievements of our sector, but every year the Catalyst Achievement Awards give us the opportunity to stop and reflect on what we have done.

The Catalyst Achievement Awards Ceremony 2016 was held at Wynyard hall for the second year running, giving the event a celebratory atmosphere for everyone involved.

After receiving a record number of nomination this year, the judging panel had the difficult task of selecting three finalists and ultimately one winner in each of the eleven categories. All of the finalists were invited to the ceremony, and over 170 guests attended the event. The room was electric with excitement and anticipation.

Catalyst welcomed its honorary guests Vice Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, Alasdair MacConachie OBE; The Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Sir Harry Wilmot; and The Worshipful The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees Councillor Ken Dixon. Each of the honorary guests spoke about how the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Stockton-on-Tees is a thriving and inspiring sector to be involved in.

The sponsors of each award were asked to present the trophy. Without these sponsors the event could not run year-on-year, and our thanks go out to all of them.

Between award presentations, Catalyst’s Connor Richardson performed two songs, bringing the audience to tears with an emotive rendition of Half the World Away and then giving a brilliant rendition of Billy Joel’s Just The Way You Are, accompanied by Catalyst’s Nathan Duff.

A huge congratulations to all of last night’s Finalists and Winners. Without you our sector would not be the shining example of a community that it is today
